Biff Bang Pow! was a seminal London-based indie pop band formed in the early 1980s by Alan McGee—founder of Creation Records—and guitarist Dick Green. Taking their name from a line in The Creation’s 1966 song Biff Bang Pow, the group embodied jangly guitars, 60s-inspired melodies, and a DIY ethos that helped define the emerging UK indie scene. Though they never achieved mainstream fame, their releases, including Pass the Paintbrush, Honey... (1985) and The Girl Who Runs the Beat Hotel (1987), became cult favorites and influential touchstones for the Creation Records sound, paving the way for the label’s later success with acts like My Bloody Valentine and Oasis.
